North Central Strong (NCS) creates space for young people to have a meaningful voice in the decisions and conversations that shape their community. Young people know their community. They understand its strengths, see opportunities for change, and have ideas about what they want its future to look like. NCS brings youth together to share those ideas, identify priorities, and turn their voices into action.
Supported by Growing Young Movers, NCS provides opportunities for young people to connect with community leaders, decision-makers, and one another while developing the confidence and experience to advocate for the things that matter to them.
From Ideas to Action
North Central Strong is driven by the ideas and priorities of young people. Members come together to discuss what is happening in their community, identify opportunities, and determine where they want to focus their energy. That can mean meeting with elected officials and community leaders, contributing to neighbourhood planning, advocating for improvements to parks and public spaces, participating in community events, supporting local projects, or developing new ideas of their own.
Through these experiences, young people learn how decisions are made, how to bring people together around an idea, and how their voices can help create meaningful change.
Shaping What's Next
North Central Strong is about more than individual projects. It is about creating an ongoing place for young people to participate in conversations about the future of their community. As NCS continues to grow, young people will help identify priorities, build relationships with community and civic leaders, and bring forward ideas that reflect their experiences and aspirations for North Central.
